MechWarrior is going back to its roots! At Piranah Game's first ever Mechcon, they made a plethora of awesome announcements for Battletech fans, including their new project, Mechwarrior 5.
"In MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries you will adopt the role of a rookie MechWarrior pilot thrust into combat as the Third Succession War continues to fracture the Inner Sphere. Take contracts from the factions of your choosing and engage in tactical, first-person, PvE ‘Mech combat through an immersive, career-based Mercenary campaign driven by player choice. Victory, prestige, and profit will not only require skill on the battlefield, but in the acquisition, maintenance, and enhancement of your BattleMechs.
Set for release in 2018, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is under development by a dedicated team at Piranha Games. MechWarrior Online, Piranha’s existing F2P multiplayer-focused tactical ‘Mech combat game, will continue its ongoing live development by the MWO team at Piranha."
It looks like they learned a thing or two from the complaints of MWO and made some huge changes. First of which being the switch to Unreal Engine 4. Cryengine used on MWO has been a bane of the game since it's inception and many fans were happy to see this change. along with this looks to have a better immersion, real time damage, better cockpit shake, new UI, and tons more. Watch the video and let us know what you think!
Are you excited to hop back into a MechWarrior Campaign, or are you still sceptical of PGI?
